Procedure for Septic Repair

  1. Employ an approved Soil Evaluator to perform a percolation/deep hole test.  The Department of Environmental Protection maintains a list of approved Soil Evaluators on their website.  The Soil Evaluator will contact the Board of Health Agent to establish the soil testing schedule. As the Agent has to witness the testing, there is a fee required.  Contact the Town Hall for the appropriate fee.

  2. Employ a Registered Sanitarian or Engineer to develop a repair plan.  The plan is to be submitted to the Brimfield Board of Health, along with a request for a Disposal System Construction Permit and the appropriate fee, for review and approval.

  3. Hire an approved Brimfield Installer to construct the system.  The Board of Health office maintains a list of approved Installers.  As the work progresses, inspections will be required by the Engineer and the  Board of Health Agent.

  4. After the system is complete, the Engineer will submit an as-built plan of the system.  Upon review of the As-Built Plan, the Installer, Engineer and Health Agent will sign the Certificate of Compliance.
