Fitness Programs

NEW!! Line Dancing

Meets on Thurdays at 10:15 a.m. Get some exercise, make new friends, and have fun while learning how to line dance! This is a beginner level class so no line dancing experience is needed. We will dance to all types of music so there will be something for everyone. You will learn easy, beginner level line dance steps and dance patterns. The focus will be on fun with slow, patient instruction.

Strength Training

Meets twice a week on Mondays & Thursdays at 9:00 a.m.  This class uses hand weights, weight bars and other equipment to strengthen all major muscle groups. This is is a great class for any level. All exercises can be done standing or sitting. Our instructor pays special attention to your special needs and will help you adapt the exercises according to your abilities. Arthritis Exercise

Meets on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.  The National Arthritis Foundation recommends regular exercise for arthritis. The exercises are designed to help alleviate arthritis pain, strengthen joints and prevent further deterioration caused by all types of arthritis. This class is designed for all levels and abilities.  Class is primarily done from a sitting position.  Call the Senior Center for more information at  245-7253.   

Tai Chi  

Meets on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. Tai Chi is a form of martial art that uses slow movements. The movements and philosophy of Tai Chi teach people to relax, slow down, coordinate their mind and body, and improve postures.  Studies have proven that Tai Chi greatly reduces the risk of falling, improves arthritis, posture, strengthens your body, lowers blood pressure, lowers stress, and helps with circulation problems. New studies have shown that the practice of Tai Chi helps with osteoporosis, and lessens the occurrences of shingles. Many physicians are now recommending the practice of Tai Chi as effective pain management for chronic pain sufferers. Call the Senior Center at  245-7253 for more information.
