Senior Tax Work-off Program

Senior Tax Work-off Program

The Town of Brimfield offers residents over the age of 60 and disabled veterans the ability to participate in the Brimfield Senior Tax Work-off Program.

Eligibility for the tax reduction will require that the individual be over the age of 60 or a disabled veteran and reside in the home upon the property in the Town of Brimfield for which the tax reduction is being applied.  Only one person per household for which the tax reduction is being applied will be eligible for said reduction.  Requirements are proof of town residence, by either a copy of the most recent property tax bill and a valid drivers license or other form of photo identification noting the legal address of the individual.

Compensation is based on minimum wage multiplied by number of hours worked up to 125 hours per year.

The number of volunteers and available positions is set by the Select board as needed. Requests for volunteers are submitted from town departments to the Select Board office.   The Select Board will maintain a roster of available volunteer positions established for each fiscal year.  Such positions are advertised on-line, on the Brimfield local access cable channel and inclusion in the Brimfield Council on Aging monthly newsletter.

Applications and additional information for the Senior Tax Work-off Program can be obtained from the Brimfield Council on Aging.
