Agricultural Commission
About Us
At the Annual Town Meeting on May 19, 2014, Brimfield approved a By-Law to form an Agricultural Commission to represent the interests of those town residents who are engaged in agricultural pursuits, either as a vocation or avocation. Currently, 162 Massachusetts towns have formed agricultural commissions in order to do such things as:
- Advocate for those who are engaged in agricultural pursuits.
- Assist the town boards with agriculture-related questions and issues.
- Foster a town environment that is "farm-friendly".
- Help promote agricultural businesses in town.
- Help resolve agriculturally related problems or conflicts.
Agricultural Commissions do not have a legal mandate or enforcement authority.
The Agricultural Commission is attempting to identify all Brimfield landowners who have agricultural operations, including those who raise livestock as a hobby and serious gardeners. If you are interested in being added to the AgComm mailing list, please contact us.
