Welcome to the Brimfield location for public information regarding the MGM/Rolling Hills Resort (Brimfield) casino proposal.  We will continue to build this site with links that will take you to the latest information on the date, time and location of upcoming Brimfield Casino Study meetings; Selectmen and other town board and committee meetings when casino discussion is anticipated; scheduled public hearings and forums; legislation; announcements; consultant interviews and other important and relevant information regarding the casino proposal and the process the Town must follow in compliance with the new Massachusetts legislation on expanded gaming.  We would like to remind you that in addition to the MGM/Rolling Hills Resort proposal that places Brimfield as the host community to the casino, Brimfield is also in the unique position to be an abutting community to the Town of Palmer with the Mohegan Sun casino proposal there.  We will do our very best to keep this site updated at all times as the casino issue is very important to our community.

This site is "Under Construction" at this time.  So, for now....

  • The next scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting on Monday, February 13, 2012 beginning at 7 p.m. will contain an agenda item at 7:30 p.m. to hold discussion with MGM representatives concerning the selection of a Consultant and the participation of the development partners in discussion on the development of a plan and scope of services.  As of this date, the location of this meeting has not been confirmed.
  • The Board of Selectmen has already interviewed two consulting firms, David Schweid, Land Use and Planning Services, Mystic, CT; and, Judi Barrett, Community Opportunities Group, Inc., Boston, MA and Jeff Donohoe, Donohoe Associates LLC, prior to the creation of this site.  The Board anticipates holding additional Consultant interviews at its February 27, 2012 meeting beginning at 10 a.m. in order to accommodate applicants who are travelling to Brimfield from out of town and out of state in order for each company to have sufficient time to meet and interview with the Board.  As of this date, the location of this meeting has not been confirmed.
  • The next scheduled meeting of the Western MA Casino Task Force is February 29, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the temporary Monson Town Office Building.
  • The next scheduled meeting of the Brimfield Casino Study Committee is April 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Elementary School on Wales Road.  This is a working meeting of the committee and not a public forum or hearing.
  • The Board of Selectmen has officially requested MGM/Rolling Hills Resort to initially establish a $50,000 gift account to allow the Town to pay for incurred expenses directly related to the casino proposal such as town counsel fees, research costs as well as the anticipated cost for retaining a Consultant who will work on the town's behalf.
We will keep you updated on all of these matters as soon as information becomes available or changes.
