Fuel Assistance

Assistance to low income eligible individuals and families to help pay for heating costs. Payment is made directly to your heating company.  Amounts vary depending on your income. No matter what your age, you can apply for Fuel Assistance at the Brimfield Senior Center. The fuel assistance program begins November 1st each year. Eligibility requirements change annually.  Call to find out if you are eligible, and for a list of verification documentation needed to file with your application,to get an application and/or assistance in completing forms. SNAP (Food Stamps)

Now it is even easier to apply for SNAP. You can now apply at the Brimfield Senior Center no matter what your age. Contact the Senior Center for application and/or assistance in completing forms and for list of verifications needed. Call Eva Pittsinger, 413-245-7253 or email.

Medicaid (Mass Health)

Wondering if you qualify for Medicaid (MassHealth) or Commonwealth Care? Does Medicaid cover prescriptions? For answers to any questions about Medicaid and to find out about eligibility call Eva at 413-245-7253 or email.

Medicare

Are you approaching retirement?  Do you need help applying for Medicare? Are you having trouble trying to figure out what Medicare pays for and if you should get a supplemental insurance plan? For answers to these questions and many more call the Brimfield Senior Center. 413-245-72

Home Health Care / Aide to Caregivers

Are you in need of some extra help at home either for yourself or to help you care for your loved one?  We can assist you in getting the help you need, whether it is someone to help you clean house, assist with personal hygiene, or visiting nursing care. Contact Eva at 413-245-7253 or email.

Prescription Advantage

If you are over 65 you may qualify to get extra help with your prescription (Medicare D) drug costs. Prescription Advantage offers help with reduced premiums and co-pays. Most importantly they offer help during the “donut hole” period of your prescription drug plan. The File of Life (F.O.L.)

The File of Life (F.O.L.) is a card listing vital emergency medical information which is kept on the refrigerator in a magnetic plastic holder, or a smaller wallet version. It is helpful to police, fire fighters and EMT’s in case of emergency. For your FREE File of Life, stop by the Senior Center at 20 Main St. Brimfield, MA or 413-245-7253 or email

R.U.O.K.?

Consistent contact with individuals who are shut in, or just need to hear a friendly voice. This service is free of charge and, as a participant; you will receive a phone call daily, weekly or monthly, at a mutually agreeable time, just to check in and ask “are you ok?”  If you would like more information about this program, please call 413-245-7253.

Applications & Assistance Available at the Senior Center

We will assist you in filling out any forms, applications etc. that you may need. In addition we will help you make phone calls to agencies so that you get the services you need and want.  We also have a variety of forms and applications available such as:

  • Government telephone program
  • Homestead protection act applications
  • Health care proxy forms
  • Handicapped plate & placard forms
  • Five Wishes Booklet (lets your family know what your wishes are for end of life)
