Duties & Responsibilities
The Treasurer-Collector Department's main duties are controlling Town funds, payroll, payables, controlling trust funds, administrating employee benefits, different human resource issues, tax title accounts, reviewing all energy accounts, along with other duties that come up.
The Office of the Treasurer-Collector is responsible for the timely preparation and mailing of all tax bills, and the collection and reconciliation of all municipal taxes. Approximately 15,000 bills are issued and collected annually.
The goal of the Treasurer-Collector’s Office is to perform the duties required by the town in a courteous and efficient manner. Residents are encouraged to call or stop in if they have any questions or concerns.
The Treasurer-Collector works closely with the Assessors and Accountant in performing the duties of the office under Massachusetts General Law.
