Meeting Agenda/Public Meeting Notice

Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 at 6:30 PM

Location: Virtual via Zoom & Town Hall (21 Main Street)

Residents are asked to use a computer to participate in this meeting

Members: Roger deBruyn (Co-Chair), Michele Restino (Co-Chair), Carol Platenik, Steve Phifer, Joe Venezia, Gary Watts, Sarah Fortune (Conservation Clerk/Administrator)

Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §18, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Brimfield Conservation Commission will be conducted in person and via remote participation to the greatest extent possible. Specific information and the general guidelines for remote participation by members of the public and/or parties with a right and/or requirement to attend this meeting can be found below. An audio or video recording, transcript, or other comprehensive record of proceedings will be posted on the Town of Brimfield website as soon as possible after the meeting.

The Conservation Commission meeting will be held in-person and via a Zoom Meeting (Internet).

  • Schedule of Public Meetings & Hearings:
    1. 7:00 PM – RDA: Opacum Land Trust; Dingley Dell Conservation Area – trail construction: The Commission will review a Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA) permit application submitted by Opacum Land Trust to determine if the proposed construction of a hiking trail at the Dingley Dell Conservation Area off Monson Road in Brimfield (Assessor’s Map 10-E-8) is subject to the Wetlands Protection Act (as amended). Work is proposed within the 100-foot Buffer Zone to Bordering Vegetated Wetlands and within the Riverfront Area to a perennial stream. 
    2. 7:00 PM – RDA: 25 Brookfield Road – septic system repairs: The Commission will review a Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA) permit application submitted by Lori McCool c/o Lois J. Shelton to determine if the proposed repairs to a septic system at 25 Brookfield Road in Brimfield (Assessor’s Map 6B-A-14) is subject to the Wetlands Protection Act (as amended). Work is proposed within the 100-foot Buffer Zone to Bordering Vegetated Wetlands and within the Riverfront Area to a perennial stream.
    3. 7:00 PM – RDA: 99 Little Alum Road – repairs to stone retaining wall: The Commission will review a Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA) permit application submitted by Walt Isaac of 99 Little Alum Road in Brimfield, MA to determine if the proposed work to repair an existing stone wall on the Bank of Little Alum Pond at 99 Little Alum Road in Brimfield (Assessor’s Map 5C-A-12) is subject to the Wetlands Protection Act (as amended). The work is proposed within the Bank of Little Alum Pond.
