Historical Commission

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm with members both in person and remote.  The following were voting participants:  Bob, Mark, Sue D. , Sue O., John.

 

I.  Sue O. was thanked for completing and submitting the annual report

II.  Petition was signed to add article to the town warrant.  Ten signatures in total are needed.  

III.  Book Project:  A total of $772 was deposited in the account.  A $15 check was given to Sue for deposit from the Southbridge Public Library.  Post-holiday sales have been slow.  Discussed a third printing before the flea market and farmers markets begin again

IV.  Bob reported the following regarding the Gazebo Project:

*50% deposit is needed to order the gazebo and a special meeting will be held by the selectboard to release those funds.  

*Contractor needed to construct pier foundation. Vendors will be sought to install the base ahead of delivery, which will not be before May.

*Electrical:  Is there enough time for Tantasqua to do this before the end of the school year?

*Subcontractor needed to terrace around the gazebo after it's installed.  Concept is for granite stones to slope up to the gazebo frame.  Need ventilation of the underside. 

*Will need to consider the following:  installation of all season speakers for a PA system, wooden "Brimfield" sign, fire resistant trash containers, flag pole, purchase of decorations for seasonal display, and assist the town with the creation of a monument for alt. war service
