New Elected Officials, Appointees and Volunteers

Each new employee, board member and volunteer, must be sworn in by the Town Clerk as soon as possible.  Elected officials may not vote in board meetings before being sworn in.

Additionally, each member of a public body must review the Open Meeting Law Guidelines within 2 weeks of start date.  The acknowledgment certificate form (found at the end) must be printed and signed, then given to the Town Clerk within the same 2 weeks and annually there after.

The Open Meeting Law’s certification requirement applies only to members of public bodies. Staff or other individuals who are not members of public bodies are not required to complete the certification form.  They are, however, required to completed the Conflict of Interest Training, and the acknowledgment.

The Conflict of Interest Training must be completed within 30 days of start date and every two years there after.
